Increasing efficiency of energy consumption is among the easiest and most efficient ways to fight climate change and protect the environment, also boosting the local economy.

Maria started her professional career in an international energy consulting company and founded the Regional Energy Agency in Liguria in 1998.

She has been active in the field of energy for over 35 years and has vast experience in management, energy planning, feasibility studies and dissemination programmes. Maria has offered her support and expertise to energy policymakers by evaluating projects for the Region of Liguria and the European Commission. She is also an expert in the management of technological innovation projects for hospitals. Maria has been a Project manager of many EU projects and has put her knowledge to good use by supervising the National Ministry’s guidelines on ESCO contracts as well as the elaboration of SEAPs particularly during the coordination and elaboration of Genova’s SEAP for the Covenant of Mayors.

Maria Fabianelli has been the Director of the Energy Division of IRE SpA since 2014.

Since 2010, Maria is the Vice-President of FEDARENE in charge of energy efficiency in buildings.
