The Regional Government of Castilla y León has started to take action regarding its fleet by acquiring new electric vehicles.

The Regional Government of Castilla y León according with the commitment of decarbonisation its fleets has started to take action with the acquisition of new four electric vehicles which will be substituted by their conventional regional fleets, being an example from the public administration. The incorporation of the electrical vehicles is accompanied by the installation of 147 new recharge stations which would cover the demand of those vehicle in the next years and the mobilization of subventions up to 50.000 € available for their installation in this financing period.
On the other this sustainable initiative involved the regional support to the promotion and development of this technology. The vehicles are two Renault Zoe and two Nissan Leaf, having Renault and Nissan manufacturing plants in diverse locations of the region and representing a significant number of employments.
It has to highlight that this initiative will contribute to the objectives of the European Strategy 2020 and follow the guidelines of the new “Energy Efficiency Regional Strategy 2016-2020” which will be released soon.
Once more, Castilla y León continues being an innovative leader region in supporting the sustainable transport, since it was in 1998, the first Spanish region to support grants for acquisition of electric and hybrid vehicles. Then this compromise ratified supporting the sustainable mobility and boosting the electric vehicle technology was later consolidated with the carried out of the Regional Electrical Vehicle Strategy in 2011-2015. Currently, the Renault Twizy electrical vehicle is manufactured in Castilla y León.
This initiative contribute to improve to improve the air quality for the Castilla y León citizens as they are zero emission vehicles, reduce energy consumption and to maintain an economic sector as it is automotive in the region.
