In a bid to fortify regional climate and emergency risk management plans, the CLIMAAX project, funded by Horizon Europe, has unfurled its inaugural Open Call for Regions and Communities. The call opened on 8 December 2023 and is closing on 8 March 2024, at 17:00 Brussels Time.
In light of the diverse European landscape in disaster risk management and climate adaptation, the EU has recognized the pressing need for heightened efforts in climate adaptation and resilience. Aligned with this mission, CLIMAAX was put forward, seeking to create a customized framework and toolbox for climate risk assessment at local and regional scales.
The project, spanning four years under Horizon Europe, builds upon existing frameworks, methods, and tools, emphasizing the deployment of datasets and service platforms at local and regional scales.
1. Public Bodies: Including regional authorities, municipalities, and public agencies mandated for climate-related risk assessments.
2. Non-profit Entities: Representing local/regional communities with a focus on climate change impacts and adaptation.
With a substantial lump sum funding of up to €300,000 per project, participants can undertake comprehensive initiatives.
Added to that, there will be given access to the multi-risk assessment Toolbox, coupled with methodological guidance and technical support through the CLIMAAX helpdesk, to ensure a robust framework for effective risk evaluations. Moreover, participants will have the chance to engage in outreach and collaboration events organized by CLIMAAX, fostering networking and knowledge-sharing within the climate resilience community.
Prospective applicants are advised to thoroughly review the CLIMAAX Guide for Applicants.
