Give your citizens a home renovation gift box: Open a One-Stop Shop!

Imagine being the go-to hub where homeowners get everything they need—from expert energy advice and audits to project design, contractor matching, financing, and even works coordination. No more renovation headaches, just smooth sailing from start to finish.

But here’s the best part: it’s not just homeowners who win. Your local contractors, installers, suppliers, and the whole community will feel the boost. A One-Stop Shop isn’t just a service—it’s a game-changer for your region’s energy transition and local economy.

Ready to make renovations easier, greener, and more profitable for everyone? Let’s make it happen! 🚀

One-Stop Shop creates new local jobs and empowers local companies

One-Stop Shops don’t just make home renovations easier—they supercharge local job creation and empower small businesses. By driving demand for renovations, they directly support local contractors, suppliers, and micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (which make up 99.9% of the EU construction market).

The numbers speak for themselves: For every €1 million invested in energy-efficient building renovations, an average of 18 long-term local jobs are created—with even higher impacts in countries like Croatia (29 jobs), Estonia (17), Finland (16), Italy (15), and Spain (18).

One-Stop Shop keeps homeowners’ money in your region

In 2015, the energy bill of private residential buildings in the Grand Est region (France) reached 2 billion EUR. Its regional One-Stop Shop (Oktave) coordinates renovation works and follows a strict quality charter, guaranteeing that energy savings are achieved and energy bills are reduced. Saved money stays in the region.

One-Stop Shop also proactively detects and accompanies vulnerable households. Lower energy bills free up disposable income, increasing social stability. Moreover, in renovated neighbourhoods, people enjoy better health, well-being and safety.

One-Stop Shop helps you implement local policies complying with EU and national energy and climate goals

The European Union aims at a Zero-emission building stock by 2050. Member States have to increase the average energy performance of the national residential building stock by 20-22% by 2035 (binding target), with focus on the renovation of the worst-performing buildings. They shall also establish at least one One-Stop Shop for the energy performance of buildings per 80 000 inhabitants or one per region or in a location that can be reached within less than 90 minutes of average travel time (for more details, refer to Article 18 of the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive).  Cities and regions are at the heart of these policies. According to the  2023 Covenant of Mayors Assessment, in European cities, residential buildings account for about 31% of total GHG emissions. One-Stop Shops for home energy renovation can bring these emissions down.

There are cities and regions around Europe who have already set up a One-Stop Shop.  Why did they do it? For the Province of Limburg in Belgium, the key motivation was to achieve its ambitious climate goals by cutting energy consumption and CO2 emissions from housing. The Haut-de-France region in France wanted to boost their local construction market and bring down high unemployment rates. The city of Vienna in Austria wanted to engage residents in its strategy of phasing out the Russian gas.

In France’s Grand Est region, homeowners were spending a whopping €2 billion a year on energy bills—until Oktave, their local One-Stop Shop, stepped in. By coordinating renovations and ensuring top-notch quality, Oktave slashed energy bills, keeping those savings (and that cash) circulating locally. Plus, they actively support vulnerable households, helping them cut costs and boost social stability. The result? Healthier, happier neighbourhoods—and money that stays where it belongs: in your community.

But here’s the bigger picture: The EU is pushing for zero-emission buildings by 2050, and your region can lead the charge. With binding targets to improve energy performance by 20-22% by 2035, One-Stop Shops are the perfect tool to hit those goals—especially for the worst-performing buildings. And guess what? The EU actually requires regions to set up at least one One-Stop Shop per 80,000 inhabitants (or within a 90-minute travel radius). With residential buildings responsible for 31% of urban GHG emissions, this is your chance to make a real impact.
