Cyprus Energy Agency and Strovolos Municipality organise a training workshop on innovative financing schemes for energy sustainability of local authorities.
The Enhancing Local Authorities Capacity workshop will be held in Nicosia on the 17th of November 2017 with invited distinguished speakers form Cyprus and abroad. The seminar will be held in English and will take place in the Cultural Center of Strovolos.
EU Local Authorities confirm their commitment to adopt an integrated approach to tackling mitigation and adaptation to climate change. Despite their commitment to a sustainable future, the local authorities are facing the barrier of financing sustainable energy actions and projects. Local authorities traditional financial mechanisms frequently suffer from healthy revenue generation preventing them to achieve their targets.
The participants will have the opportunity to learn and discuss about innovative financing schemes and tools that have been tested by various European cities and regions. The workshop is supported by the Energy Cities, the Covenant of Mayors and the projects GreenS-Green public procurement supporters for innovative and sustainable institutional change (funded from the European Union Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme) and LOCAL4GREEN-LOCAL Policies for Green Energy (co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund).
