On 8 April 2025, the European Investment Bank (EIB) and the European Committee of the Regions will host a high-level event, “Investing in Cities: Trends, Lessons and Opportunities”, at the Committee of the Regions in Brussels.
This event will officially launch the EIB Municipalities Report 2025, presenting valuable insights gathered from over 1,000 municipalities across the EU. The report highlights key investment priorities, as well as barriers and bottlenecks faced by local governments, offering essential data to inform future EU urban policies.
Policymakers from the European, national, and local levels will gather to discuss urban investment strategies focusing on affordable housing, sustainable urban development, and climate neutrality. Participants will explore current financial and advisory support mechanisms for cities available during the 2021-2027 period, as well as future needs and opportunities under the next Multiannual Financial Framework (post-2027).
