About the Event
On May 28th, the vibrant city of Naples will host Sustainable Islands 2025, the mid-term event of the LIFE ISLET project, dedicated to advancing energy communities on Mediterranean small islands.

The event, taking place on 28th May in Napoli, will open with welcome remarks from Maria Teresa Imparato, President of Legambiente Campania. The morning sessions will explore the latest findings from the 2025 Sustainability Report on Italian Small Islands, presented by Andrea Minutolo (Legambiente) and Francesca Battistelli (CNR and ISLET Coordinator). A panel discussion chaired by Francesco Petracchini (CNR) will follow, bringing together key voices from national and international organisations, including the Association of Small Islands Municipalities (ANCIM), the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM), European Small Islands Federation (ESIN), and the Italian Ministries of Environment & Energy Security and Civil Protection & Sea Policies.
Speakers from community-led energy projects across Europe, will then share experiences and strategies in decarbonising island territories. The session will include contributions from Dario Tamburrano (Member of the European Parliament), Academia, the LIFE ISLET project team, and Legambiente.
Before the lunch break, a dedicated panel moderated by Kostas Komninos (DAFNI) will feature island representatives from Croatia, Italy, Greece, Scotland, and Malta, sharing lessons from the LIFE ISLET peer-to-peer exchanges.
In the afternoon, the PROCIDA Room will host a final session focused on the challenges and opportunities of the energy transition in small islands. Experts from academia, European projects and initiatives, the private sector, will share their perspectives, followed by an open Q&A session.
