EcoFellows Ltd. (Ekokumppanit Oy) is the regional energy and sustainability agency of Tampere, Finland. It supports municipalities, organisations and citizens in advancing energy efficiency, renewable energy and circular economy solutions.

Founded in 2002, EcoFellows Ltd. (Ekokumppanit Oy) operates as the regional energy and sustainability agency of Tampere. The organisation builds on the legacy of the Tampere Energy Agency, established in 1999 under the EU SAVE II programme.

The company’s operations build on the legacy of the Tampere Energy Agency, established in 1999 with funding from the EU SAVE II programme. Today, energy advice remains a core pillar of its activities, delivered through a one-stop-shop model.

With a team of approximately 30 professionals and an annual turnover of around €2 million, EcoFellows provides services primarily to public organisations, especially municipalities, while its advisory services reach residents, housing associations, businesses and organisations.

The organisation promotes responsibility and sustainable development by offering independent and practical guidance on energy efficiency, renewable energy solutions, sustainable mobility and circular economy practices.

Energy Advice and Regional Impact

EcoFellows delivers energy advice funded by the Finnish Energy Authority and its owners. It regularly collaborates with municipalities across two regions, covering 24 municipalities and approximately 715,000 residents, providing structured support on energy efficiency and climate-related issues.

Its advisory services help households and housing companies navigate renovation decisions, heating system upgrades and renewable energy adoption, contributing to regional and national climate targets.

European Engagement and Projects

EcoFellows is strongly engaged in European cooperation and EU-funded projects.

It serves as:

  • Country Expert and National Hub of the European City Facility (EUCF) in Finland
  • National Expert of the European Energy Communities Facility (EECF)
