The 2026 edition of the World Sustainability Days (WSED), organised by OÖ Energiesparverband, is planned for 24 to 27 February in Wels, Austria, and there is a call for papers and speakers to be showcased at the event. Submit a paper or propose a speaker by 10 October 2025 to be part of this exciting event and present your work to the energy transition community.
The WSED is an annual event that hosts conferences discussing how ambitious steps towards the energy transition can achieve energy decarbonisation, affordability, and independence. With a rise in global competition and geopolitical uncertainty, this edition will have a focus on how the energy transition can increase Europe’s competitiveness and resilience while making energy more affordable. Over 650 participants from more than 60 countries attend the WSED, marking the event as an influential gathering shaping the energy transition. Participants of the WSED can attend multiple days of conferences on relevant themes such as energy efficiency, industrial energy, and energy communities, with no shortage of networking and learning opportunities. Papers and speakers presented at the event will be exhibited to a community of energy transition professionals, offering an opportunity to share your work with an audience of leading experts in climate neutrality.
Papers on topics related to the energy transition, including but not limited to: energy efficiency, sustainable technology, and climate neutrality, are welcome to be submitted to the conference. Accepted papers will be presented either orally or via a poster during the event and can be published in the conference proceedings. Interested parties should read the full details of the call’s criteria on the WSED website, linked below.
The WSED is also accepting proposals for speakers at the event. By filling out a submission form with information about the proposed speaker and their presentation, you can nominate either yourself or someone else to speak at the conference.
There is also an opportunity for young energy researchers born after 1990 to submit their work for presentation at the Young Energy Researchers Conference on 24 February. For this call, young researchers, students studying advanced degrees, and professionals are invited to submit papers on biomass or energy efficiency to be presented either orally or via a poster during the conference. Groups of up to three people or individuals can submit their papers until 10 October 2025, and WSED will cover the cost of attendance for up to 60 selected participants.
