Construction21 is the information and networking place for professionals in the sustainable construction sector.

A real dissemination tool, it shares the news and best practices of sustainable development between the actors of the city and the construction industry with as many people as possible. In particular, thematic dossiers developed with members of its community on key issues such as reuse, mobility, adaptation to climate change, training, prefab construction, etc. are offered, as well as case studies of buildings, districts, and exemplary infrastructures.
On Tuesday, 5 December, the Green Solutions Awards 2022-2023 announced its international winners, at COP28 in Dubai.
The competition for sustainable solutions rewarded nineteen projects, involving a total of around one hundred expert jury members from all over the world, from which fifteen on the international stage. The Grand Prize in all categories at the Green Solutions Awards went to the 5th Press kit 2 generation heating and cooling network in Plymouth (UK). The juries wanted to highlight a key issue: energy.
Managed by Plymouth City Council and executed by Vital Energi, SunGift Solar, and WJ Groundwater, this Grand Prize winner is hailed for its scalability and potential global impact. The project addresses the challenge of energy transition by offering a replicable solution that covers a vast expanse, contributing significantly to decarbonizing the built environment.
The decision counts with an online voting campaign (General Public) and an evaluation by expert juries.
By participating, professionals hope to win one of the prizes related to their category – Building, District, or Infrastructure, covering topics on Hot Climates, Urban Renovation Grand Prize, Low-Tech, Health & Comfort, User’s Choice, Sustainable Infrastructure, etc.
This edition had a record number of participants, with 219 registered projects, divided into 173 buildings, 15 districts, and 31 infrastructures. Eighteen countries were represented, running for the prizes.
The event, which took place on the eve of the day dedicated to the built environment and urbanisation, helped to bring concrete, affordable and replicable solutions to the forefront of the international stage.
Thanks to a worldwide communication plan, each participant – candidate, partner or jury member – will benefit from enhanced visibility among peer professionals and become a source of inspiration. In 2020-2021, the contest generated 2.5 million of views at the international level.
“These trophies are probably the best investment of time and energy that I have made in the last 10 years! Since 2018, I have presented three projects and three victories. Repeated success has boosted the cognitive system of my teams and partners. They are more and more motivated and creative. Nothing stops them anymore, they all want to save humanity”
