Regio1st / Mentoring program

Implementing the Energy Efficiency First Principle in Regional Planning

Mentoring program

The Regio1st project is launching a comprehensive mentoring program to support local and regional authorities in embedding the Energy Efficiency First (EE1st) principle into their planning processes. This initiative focuses on fostering knowledge exchange among authorities and stakeholders across Europe to promote sustainable energy practices.

Key Objectives

The mentoring program is designed to:

  • Equip regional authorities with decision-support tools for integrating the EE1st principle into energy and climate planning,
  • Establish a community of practice to ensure political commitment and societal acceptance of the EE1st principle,
  • Facilitate the adoption of the EE1st principle in National Energy and Climate Plans (NECPs) and Regional Operational Programs,
  • Provide practical guidance on utilizing the online Regio1st Planning Framework to support the development of energy strategies.

Core Learning Topics

The program includes three key learning topics:

  1. Energy Efficiency in Plans: Participants will explore the Regio1st Planning Framework and learn how to incorporate the EE1st principle into regional energy plans.
  2. Multilevel Governance: This cycle addresses the importance of effective governance to promote the EE1st principle at both regional and national levels.
  3. Just Transition Fund: Participants will dive into the financing mechanisms of the Just Transition Fund to support regional energy efficiency actions

Who can apply?

Local and regional authorities, energy agencies, and professionals involved in sustainable energy projects are encouraged to apply. The program offers tailored mentoring, enabling participants to gain practical skills, access expert knowledge, and network with peers across Europe.

Applications are open until the end of November 2024, and the program will kick off in January 2025.
