Webinar

Breaking vertical and horizontal silos in SECAPs development and implementation

Unlock new strategies for seamless collaboration across all levels of governance to drive impactful climate action and energy transitions in your community

The 20 November 2024 from 10:30 to 12:00 Brussels time

Breaking vertical and horizontal silos in SECAPs development and implementation

One of the biggest challenges in developing and implementing Sustainable Energy and Climate Action Plans (SECAPs) is breaking down the silos that limit collaboration, both between different levels of government (vertical) and across sectors (horizontal). Effective coordination is vital to achieving climate and energy targets.

This webinar will kick off with an introduction to key European regulation, followed by insights from practitioners in Cyprus, Spain, and Italy who have successfully navigated these governance barriers in SECAPs development and implementation.

As the first event in the Transition Expert capacity-building programme under the PLAN4CET LIFE-CET project, the webinar will highlight the essential role of Transition Experts in fostering cross-sector and multilevel cooperation. Participants will gain an understanding of how the EU supports integrated governance, alongside practical experiences from the field.

This webinar is jointly organised by the Covenant of Mayors and PLAN4CET.

The EU Covenant of Mayors for Climate & Energy, a 15-year initiative supported by the European Commission, brings together thousands of local governments committed to building a sustainable future. Central to its success is its role in aligning different levels of governance and supporting their contributions to the implementation of the European Green Deal.

PLAN4CET is a European project that helps regions and cities design and implement Clean Energy Transition (CET) plans tailored to their specific needs and contexts. PLAN4CET partners developed the capacity building webinar series “Transition Expert” to support a cross-sectorial approach to the energy transition amongst local administrations and professionals.
