The Roger Léron Award celebrates inspirational individuals and projects leading the climate and energy transition at the local and regional levels across Europe. Established in 2014 in memory of Roger Léron, a pioneer in sustainable energy and former President of FEDARENE, the award honours efforts that drive lasting positive change.

From local energy agencies to public authorities and non-profits, countless initiatives are striving to make energy cleaner and more efficient. The Roger Léron Award celebrates their strategic vision, leadership, and impact, shining a light on achievements that help shape a more sustainable future for all.


Roger Léron Award 2025

The 8th edition of the Roger Léron Award was concluded on 15 May 2025 in Brussels with a high-level Ceremony, as part of FEDARENE’s 35th anniversary and General Assembly. This special edition recognised forward-thinking individuals and projects under four categories: 

  • Longstanding Achievement Award: Celebrates individuals with a career of at least 25 years dedicated to sustainable energy and climate action.
  • Youth Leadership Award: Recognises exceptional contributions by young leaders between the ages of 20 and 30.
  • Outstanding Achievement Award: Honours individuals who have made impactful contributions but do not qualify for either the Youth Leadership or Longstanding Achievement awards. 
  • Innovative Action Award: Highlights innovative projects that significantly advance climate and energy goals, emphasising creativity, impact, and scalability.

This year’s Roger Léron Award ceremony will take place on the 15th of May as part of FEDARENE’s 35th-anniversary celebrations and the 2025 General Assembly, offering the opportunity to discover a number of local initiatives in the field of sustainable energy and climate action which deserve recognition, and individuals who have their territory’s future at heart.
