Join the 16th Citizens’ Energy Forum on 5 December 2024 to explore how empowering citizens can drive a fair and inclusive energy transition across Europe!

The 16th Citizens’ Energy Forum, scheduled for 5 December 2024 from 09:30 – 17:00 (CET), will focus on the theme “Towards a Citizens Energy Package: Empowering Citizens for a Just Energy Transition.” This event will kick off the development of the Citizens Energy Package, aiming to increase citizen involvement in the energy transition and reinforce the social dimension of the Energy Union.

Organised by the European Commission and the Hungarian Energy and Public Utilities Regulatory Authority, the forum will bring together a diverse group of stakeholders from NGOs, cities, energy communities, consumer associations, and businesses to explore challenges and solutions for empowering citizens in the energy transition. The event will be live-streamed, allowing online participants to engage in the discussions. The working language is English, with strong encouragement for national, regional, and local stakeholders to actively participate.

Energy Communities Workshop

Ahead of the forum, the Interreg Europe Policy Learning Platform will host a workshop on energy communities on 4 December 2024. This session is tailored for local and regional authorities, energy agencies, and public actors interested in supporting the development of energy communities.

Forum Background

Since its inception in 2008, the Citizens’ Energy Forum has served as a key platform for discussing consumer rights within the EU energy market. The 2024 edition will play a crucial role in shaping the future of EU energy and consumer policies.
