Empowering Citizens to Renovate: Examples of One-Stop Shops

Date April 22, 2026
Time 10:00 - 11:30 Brussels time

About the Event

Co-organised by Renovate Europe and FEDARENE’s Working Group on Renovation OSS, this webinar will showcase concrete examples of one-stop shops from across the EU and examine the lessons they offer for accelerating renovation across different national and local contexts.

Amid geopolitical instability, soaring energy costs, and escalating climate pressures, the urgency to accelerate the renovation of residential buildings has never been greater. Renovation is a critical lever, not only for reducing energy demand and emissions but also for enhancing living standards and boosting Europe’s energy resilience.

While policy frameworks, financial incentives, and regulatory tools exist to support renovation, many citizens still encounter substantial barriers. Navigating technical solutions, securing funding, and managing administrative processes can be daunting without tailored guidance.

Recent findings from the Buildings Performance Institute Europe’s Healthy Buildings Barometer reveal strong public support for stricter regulations to ensure buildings are designed and maintained to safeguard health and well-being. However, the survey also underscores widespread uncertainty among citizens about where to begin and what solutions are available.

In this landscape, regional one-stop shops (OSS) play a pivotal role. By offering integrated, localised support, from technical advice to financial and administrative assistance, they simplify the renovation process, making it more accessible and effective for homeowners and communities.

Objective of the Webinar

This webinar will spotlight successful regional OSS models across the EU, exploring their strategies, challenges, and best practices. It will examine how these locally embedded services can be scaled and adapted to accelerate renovation in diverse contexts.

The discussion will bring together energy agency representatives, policymakers, industry experts, and local authorities to assess how OSS can better empower citizens throughout their renovation journey, from initial planning to project completion.
