The Covenant of Mayors Community: A governance model for the future EU Cohesion Policy
The event will consist of a workshop followed by a participatory session.
Introduced by Marku Markkula, the workshop will host representatives of the Covenant of Mayors Board, CoR Covenant of Mayors ambassadors and regional authorities to show how the Covenant of Mayors framework works in practice, and to discuss the governance of the future Cohesion Policy.

Together with the Committee of the Regions (CoR), the Covenant of Mayors-Europe Office is organising an event as part of the 2018 European Week of Regions and Cities.
The event will consist of a workshop followed by a participatory session.
Introduced by Marku Markkula, the workshop will host representatives of the Covenant of Mayors Board, CoR Covenant of Mayors ambassadors and regional authorities to show how the Covenant of Mayors framework works in practice, and to discuss the governance of the future Cohesion Policy.
Many provinces and regions integrate the CoM into their territorial strategies and make use of EU-funded programmes to develop and implement integrated local and regional energy and climate action plans. They will share their experience and views on the future of the EU Cohesion policy. Interpretation in English, Italian and French will be provided.
The participatory session will allow peer-to-peer exchanges on how the Covenant of Mayors can be used to leverage financial instruments and fund local energy and climate action plans.Inspiring examples from provinces, regions, associations of local authorities on the use of Cohesion Policy instruments to fund local action on sustainable energy and adaptation to climate change will be presented. Each example will be followed by discussions in small groups. This session will be in English only.
