This webinar will dive into European technical assistance and how it supports actors across Europe by giving them the tools to lead the charge towards net zero carbon by 2050.
Buildings are responsible for 40% of energy consumption in the European Union. As 90% of the buildings that exist today will still stand in 2050, renovation of the existing building stock is key to achieving the decarbonisation goals. With 75% of Europeans now living in cities, it is even more crucial for cities to fulfil their role in leading Europe’s building renovation challenge.
This webinar, organised by BPIE, will dive into European technical assistance and how it supports cities across Europe by giving them the tools to lead the charge towards net zero carbon by 2050 and unlock the huge potential of their existing buildings.
The webinar will also present the multi-level energy renovation impact framework, developed under the H2020 Build Upon2 project, that enables cities to measure the diverse benefits of renovation projects across environmental, social and economic factors, and to identify which of these can be scaled up to the regional and national level.
Speakers from the European Commission, Climate Alliance and the Build Upon2 project will highlight what is happening at the European level, what is needed at the local level, and what synergies exist between the different levels of policy making to scale up renovation.
Who should attend and why? Cities, regions, energy agencies, and other stakeholders who wants to gain insight on current technical assistance available for cities to boost renovation at local level.
