The Agencia Energética Municipal de Valladolid (AEMVA) is an operational unit belonging to the Council of Valladolid. The main purpose of AEMVA is to optimise and rationalise energy consumption through the municipality’s public services.
AEMVA is the result of a gradual process that started in 1992 when a decision was made to fully face the energy efficiency issues in the municipality. Over the years, the agency has become a real pioneer in municipal energy efficiency management.
Activities
The agency partakes in the following activities and services:
- Eliminating unnecessary energy costs;
- Implementing and replacing outdated energy technologies with new ones;
- Optimising financial resources invested in new facilities and infrastructure by applying modern and cheaper techniques or through the injection of financial resources or public support;
- Reducing energy consumption of the Council of Valladolid;
- Influencing private energy management (domestic, commercial, industrial and transportation), seeking to minimise energy consumption and transferring it to cleaner energy sources.
