River floods are Europe’s most frequent and costly natural disaster, causing damage to homes, infrastructure, health systems, and ecosystems. To help local and regional authorities prepare and respond, REGILIENCE and partner projects have launched a practical quick guide on river flood resilience.
The guide explains how to identify flood risks using EU tools like the Flood Risk Maps and EFAS early warning system. It also proposes over 30 concrete adaptation measures, from restoring green-blue infrastructure and redesigning dikes to managed retreat from high-risk zones.
Case studies include projects from Germany, Austria, and Italy, with links to further resources and a self-assessment tool to avoid maladaptation. It also features community engagement tools and funding sources to support implementation.
📘 The publication is multilingual and is a practical resource to support emergency preparedness.
