Based on a literature review and a series of interviews, this study aims to map the uses of straw from cereals and oilseeds and to analyze the potential impacts of increased mobilization of straw, in particular the environmental impacts, on agricultural practices and on the logistics sector.

Beyond its agricultural use, straw is now the subject of more and more discussions – and projects – regarding its use as a material or for energy use. The development of energy and straw material sectors has an impact on technical itineraries (combinations of techniques that characterize the different ways of growing a crop) and agricultural work. The coordination of the various straw recovery strategies is, therefore, necessary to ensure optimal management of the resource and to prevent possible competing uses.
Based on a literature review and a series of interviews, this study aims to map the uses of straw from cereals and oilseeds and to analyze the potential impacts of increased mobilization of straw, in particular the environmental impacts, on agricultural practices and on the logistics sector. This study also formulates a certain number of recommendations for local authorities to support the development of these sectors.
