A Growing Network: FEDARENE Welcomes Four New Members at its 2025 General Assembly

At this year’s General Assembly in Brussels, FEDARENE had the pleasure of welcoming four new members to the network. Their official unanimous approval was one of the key moments of the 35th anniversary edition, marking another step forward in strengthening regional cooperation for the energy transition.

The new members bring with them a wide range of expertise, from local energy planning to island decarbonisation and urban retrofitting. Each reflects FEDARENE’s core values of innovation, collaboration, and territorial engagement.

Let’s meet them:

🔸 Budapest Climate Agency
Created by the Municipality of Budapest, the agency is focused on decarbonising the city’s building stock. Through its “Green Panel Programme,” it supports major renovations in multi-apartment buildings, combining local support schemes with financial innovation.

🔸 Energy Agency of the Province of Cádiz (APEC)
Operating since 2006, APEC supports municipalities across the Cádiz province in energy efficiency, sustainable mobility, and climate adaptation. It also plays a key role in promoting energy communities and assisting with public procurement of clean technologies.

🔸 Balearic Institute for Energy (IBE)
As a public body of the Balearic Government, IBE leads renewable energy deployment and energy efficiency across the islands. Its work spans from supporting shared self-consumption to strengthening electric mobility and public engagement.

🔸 EU-CRESC – Regional Centre for Climate and Energy (Bucharest)
Born from the former AEEPM, EU-CRESC positions itself as a regional hub for climate innovation. The NGO provides technical support and capacity-building for local actors in Romania, particularly in sustainable heating and energy communities.

With these additions, FEDARENE continues to strengthen its capacity to represent and support the local and regional actors shaping Europe’s energy future. In parallel, the General Assembly paid tribute to six esteemed figures whose contributions have left a lasting mark on the network.

This year, Jacques Vallet, Michel Lamblin, Albert Mitjà Sarvisé, Juanjo Escobar Sánchez, Serge Nocodie, and Hans Gulliksson were formally welcomed into College 4, FEDARENE’s honorary body, in recognition of their dedication, leadership, and enduring support for the European energy agency movement.
