The Step-WISE project is inviting municipalities, energy agencies and urban practitioners to join its capacity-building programme and explore its Digital Decarbonisation Toolkit for sustainable energy planning.

Over the past three years, the Step-WISE project has supported local and regional authorities in developing effective Sustainable Energy and Climate Action Plans (SECAPs).

At the Core: The Virtual Knowledge Office

At the core of the project lies the Virtual Knowledge Office (VKO), an online platform designed to bring together tools, resources and expertise to support evidence-based decision-making in energy transition planning.

The Virtual Knowledge Office can be replicated by energy agencies to support municipalities in their daily energy planning activities. It provides access to data, training materials, video demonstrations and good practices, helping local authorities design and implement ambitious energy transition strategies.

To further expand its impact, the Step-WISE project is now inviting organisations to become Replicators and join its growing community of practitioners working to accelerate decarbonisation at the local level.

By joining the programme, participants will gain hands-on experience using the Digital Decarbonisation Toolkit, a practical set of tools supporting the analysis, modelling and evaluation of energy transition measures. This enables practitioners to strengthen their capacity to support local authorities in developing robust and realistic energy plans.

Test the Digital Decarbonisation Toolkit

Replicators will also benefit from direct coaching and knowledge exchange with leading experts in energy planning, as well as access to up-to-date data and practical guidance.

As an additional incentive, organisations joining the programme will receive a free trial license of the Step-WISE Digital Decarbonisation Toolkit for the duration of the project, which runs until the end of May 2026. The earlier organisations register, the longer they will be able to explore the tools free of charge.

Organisations registering after the project ends will still be able to access a one-month free trial via the IES website:
