The Energy and Climate department of IAU (IAU-Ile de France), previously ARENE*, has launched a project dealing with the support of local authorities for the definition and the implementation of public buildings renovation strategies. As a first step, an energy audit of representative municipal buildings and associated energy contracts have been carried out. In parallel, a survey of stakeholders is currently done on incentives and levers of energy projects (energy efficiency, energy renovation, renewable energies): mayors, technicians, bankers, energy professionals and so on are interviewed.
From the lessons learnt, local energy planning strategy is under progress combining sociological, economical, technical, financial and legal aspects.
This work is part of the new regional energy strategy which aims at developing strongly renewable energy projects in the region in order to increase the percentage of RES in final energy consumption from 5% to at least 20% and also to increase renovation of public buildings. Both are objectives of the regional air energy and climate plan.
* ARENE is now the Energy and Climate department of IAU (land planning regional institute).
