Biogas Action – Change the Framework for biomethane development
The biogas action project created the opportunity to change the framework for biomethane production to produce biomethane in farms and sell it directly as bioGNC, or to collect this biomethane by trucks and deliver it to the gas grid, a few kilometers away.

In 2016, the framework for biomethane production was built exclusively for gas grid injection. But indeed it could be possible to produce biomethane in farms and sell it directly as bioGNC or to collect this biomethane by trucks and deliver it to the gas grid, a few kilometres away. In those cases, no mechanism of support was available in France. The biogas action project offered the opportunity to change the framework and to open new possibilities for biomethane production by:
- organising of national events on those topics: conference in national biogas fair,
- carrying out and sharing at national level feasibility studies to document and prove the opportunity of development,
- attending national workshop to discuss opportunities with Ministries,
- collaborating with a national network like national association of farmers with AD plant or the national biogas association, and use their capacity of lobbying to change the framework
Aims and objectives of this Action
The aim is to obtain regional or national support for biomethane not injected: for small refuelling stations like Agri-GNV©, or for the collection of biomethane by trucks in order to deliver to a gas grid.
