CoachCopro: How a Digital Platform is making Condominium Renovation work at scale

Background
CoachCopro, developed by the Agence Parisienne du Climat (APC) since 2013, is France’s national platform for supporting condominiums in their renovation projects, forming an integral part of the France Rénov’ public renovation service. In 2025, the platform counted more than 40,000 condominiums registered and engaged in a renovation project, with one in three Parisian condominiums now on the platform.
A Platform That Serves Everyone in the Renovation Ecosystem
CoachCopro connects residents, building managers, energy advisors and construction professionals under one roof. Each condominium has its own project space to track progress, exchange documents with its advisor, access localised financial aid information and simulate renovation scenarios. A dedicated interface for building managers, who often oversee many buildings at once, is also being rolled out, giving them a clear overview of all their buildings and the status of financial aid applications, which has long been a source of uncertainty for this group.
What sets CoachCopro apart is that digital tools are not a substitute for human guidance, they are used to extend and facilitate it. When a condominium registers, a local France Rénov’ advisor takes over the relationship. The platform structures that relationship, giving both sides a shared, up-to-date view of where the project stands.
Knowing Where to Start: The Maturity Assessment
Before pushing a condominium into technical studies or expensive procurement processes, the platform evaluates two dimensions: the building’s technical characteristics, largely pre-filled from national open data, and the condominium’s organisational readiness: governance quality, engagement levels and prior project experience. The result is a maturity score with targeted recommendations, allowing advisors managing hundreds of active files to focus intensive support where it is genuinely needed, and to engage less active condominiums at the right moment.
Open Data and Renewable Energy Simulation
The platform’s backbone is deeply integrated with France’s national open data infrastructure, including building databases, address registries, company directories and professional certification application programming interfaces (APIs), allowing building profiles to be largely filled in automatically at registration and ensuring data quality throughout.
Beyond data collection, CoachCopro also helps condominiums consider alternatives to their current heating systems. A built-in renewable energy module automatically simulates options such as district heating networks and heat pumps, based on a building’s address and characteristics, giving advisors and residents a ready-made starting point for discussions about heating system change. A major development planned for 2026 will take this further: by connecting to ministry data and the APIs of energy distributors GrDF and Enedis, the platform will track actual monthly energy consumption before and after renovation works, providing the kind of real-world impact measurement that has so far been difficult to achieve at scale.
Data That Informs Public Policy
Thirteen years of accumulated project data have turned CoachCopro into a territorial observatory for renovation policy. The APC uses it to track how long renovation journeys actually take, identify building segments that current financial support does not yet fully reach, and map where intervention should be concentrated next. This analytical function gives the APC a unique position between local authorities and the ground level: it can translate policy ambitions into targeted action plans, and feed evidence back to elected officials where structural barriers remain.
A Considered Approach to AI
As artificial intelligence becomes central to discussions about the future of digital tools in the energy transition, CoachCopro’s team has taken a deliberately measured stance. Rather than integrating AI reactively, the APC developed an internal AI charter and is currently mapping use cases before any deployment. Priority applications could include an internal chatbot fed with documentation and project data, natural language search within the platform’s database, and automated summaries of renovation files to reduce advisor workload. A conversational assistant for the public is not ruled out but requires careful framing: the concern is not AI itself, but the risk of undermining the trusted advisor relationship that sits at the heart of the model. The principle is clear. AI should support advisors, not substitute for them.
Replicability and Next Steps
CoachCopro is already operational across around 30 territories in France, with Angers and Grenoble joining in 2026. The APC is now exploring European deployment through upcoming One-Stop Shop projects, with the ambition of exporting not just the platform but the full methodology built up over more than a decade.
