Vice-President for Energy Efficiency in Buildings
Director of Energy Management Agency of Friuli Venezia Giulia (IT)
Biography
Matteo Mazzolini is the Director of the Friuli Venezia Giulia Energy Agency (APE FVG), a role he has held since 2006.
Matteo has also been the Director of EROEI, an innovative start-up focused on data analysis for energy efficiency, and a member of Action Group 9 – Energy of the EU Strategy for the Alpine Region (EUSALP) since 2020. Since 2024, he has served on the Board of Directors of the Italian National Network of Local Energy Agencies (RENAEL).
As FEDARENE’s Vice-President for Energy Efficiency in Buildings, Matteo supports the alignment of EU climate objectives with local implementation, helping regions scale up building renovation efforts for a just, inclusive, and sustainable energy transition. His work emphasises the key role of energy agencies in delivering planning, technical support, and long-term capacity building in the building sector.
During his mandate, Matteo will explore opportunities for strengthening cooperation and knowledge exchange, particularly in the context of Ukraine and other countries preparing for EU accession. He aims to ensure that energy agencies are well positioned to contribute to capacity-building efforts, energy planning, and the broader alignment of national building practices with EU standards.
By fostering collaboration across regions and highlighting the strategic role of energy agencies, Matteo seeks to support a more coherent and effective approach to building renovation across Europe—one that accelerates energy efficiency improvements while preparing territories for future policy and funding opportunities.
