Savvas VLACHOS

Savvas Vlachos is an environmental engineer who is the Director of the Cyprus Energy Agency (CEA). He originally joined CEA in 2009 as an Energy Expert, a role where he was involved in studies, audits, certifications, and procurements related to energy efficiency in buildings, Sustainable Energy Action Plans for local authorities, and Renewable Energy Sources (RES) technologies. 

Savvas has a master’s degree in civil engineering and is registered as a qualified expert for issuing Energy Performance Certificates for residential buildings in Cyprus. As of February 2020, he has been assigned as a member of the Energy Auditors’ Committee under the Ministry of Energy, Commerce, and Industry. 

On behalf of CEA, Savvas has served as the coordinator for the implementation of four investments approved for funding under the Recovery and Resilience Facility in Cyprus since 2022. These investments promote energy transition and climate adaptation by local authorities, tackle energy poverty for disabled people, and mainstream the installation of publicly accessible EV charging stations. 

Since 2022, Savvas has served as the Vice-President for Smart and Sustainable Islands at FEDARENE. In this role, Savvas supports sustainable development on European islands, supporting climate adaptation, resilience, and the transition to renewable energy sources on islands.
