Stéphane PÉRÉ
Vice-President for Industrial Decarbonisation
Director General of AREC Occitanie (FR)
Biography
Stéphane Péré is the General Manager of the Occitanie Regional Energy and Climate Agency (AREC Occitanie), the regional energy agency of the Occitanie Region of France. He has held this role since 2018 and originally joined the Occitanie/Pyrénées-Méditerranée region to prefigure the agency in 2017.
With a degree in political science and extensive experience in the institutional sector, Stéphane brings 20 years of expertise in renewable energy. He served for a decade as Chief of Staff and subsequently General Delegate at the Compagnie Nationale du Rhône, before becoming Secretary General at SHEM Engie for three years. He also chairs the Management Board of the Regional Agency for Strategic Investments, as well as the Asset Management Company OCCTE, both key instruments supporting the region’s energy transition.
Serving as FEDARENE’s Vice-President for Industrial Decarbonisation, Stéphane supports energy agencies in driving the transition of Europe’s industrial sector—an essential area for achieving the EU’s 2030 and 2050 climate targets. His work focuses on strengthening agencies’ role as facilitators, technical experts, and investment mobilisers able to help industries reduce emissions while maintaining competitiveness.
During his mandate, Stéphane aims to highlight the concrete actions carried out by regional agencies, identify the barriers and levers to deploying financing solutions, and bring their insights to European institutions. By promoting cooperation, sharing best practices, and reinforcing advocacy efforts, he seeks to advance a more resilient, innovative, and low-carbon industrial landscape across Europe.
