On the initiative of Michael Geissler, Secretary General of FEDARENE and CEO of the Berlin Energy Agency, FEDARENE organised its first EU Lunch Debate on 21st March 2018 at Berlin’s Liaison office to the EU. This event took place in the framework of the first FEDARENE’s board of directors meeting of the year. Named “LunchEU”, Michael Geissler and FEDARENE hope that this first lunch debate was the first one of a long series. The goal of these meetings is to invite EU officials and politicians to discuss various themes related to sustainable energy.
For this first edition, the focus was on sustainable and energy-efficient mobility in EU regions. For this occasion, the FEDARENE’s board of directors welcomed Michael Cramer, MEP and the member of the Committee on Transport and Tourism, and Dr Siniša Hajdaš Dončić, Vice-President of the Croatian Parliament. Both guests of honour gave a speech on clean mobility and FEDARENE board members were able to ask questions and discuss the role of local and regional authorities in the energy transition. During his introduction speech, Michael Geissler reminded that regions were essential in the fight against climate change: “We need strong political leadership in the regions to foster climate actions”.
