The 7th call of the European City Facility (EUCF) has set a new record, with 297 local governments and authorities applying to secure support for energy efficiency and clean energy projects. This surge in interest underscores the strong commitment of cities across Europe to advancing climate neutrality at the local level.
Closed on December 18, the call attracted applications from 27 out of 29 eligible countries (EU27, plus Iceland and Ukraine), highlighting the broad reach of this initiative. Out of these applicants, 71 will be selected to receive EUR 60,000 grants to develop investment concepts for clean energy and energy efficiency initiatives.
Local authorities have worked closely with energy agencies to shape their applications, reflecting a shared dedication to grassroots action for sustainability. The results of the 7th call will be announced in March 2025, with winning applicants published on the EUCF website following the finalisation of agreements.
