Open Letter: Regional and Local Energy Agencies Europe’s Enablers of the Renovation Wave

On its 30 years anniversary, FEDARENE is committed to strengthen it’s role as interface with Europe’s regional and local authorities, ensuring the European Green Deal uses local and regional energy agencies to their full potential.

2020 marks 30 years of existence of our Federation of energy agencies and regions. For 30 years we have been the European Union’s partners in our joint energy transition, and we are looking forward to consolidating our role as an interface with its regions and local authorities.

As such, local and regional Energy Agencies from across Europe, representing a total workforce of 2500 energy experts, stand ready to translate the Renovation Wave into concrete programmes that leverage massive investments to renovate buildings, integrate renewables, embed circularity, guarantee high health standards and support the move to digitisation.

While their expertise and staying power could maximise the impact of the “renovation wave”, this capacity has not developed uniformly across Europe and requires further re-enforcement and resources.

To this end, the members of FEDARENE have formulated the following recommendations to enable regional and local energy agencies to translate the Renovation Wave into concrete programmes that leverage massive investments to renovate buildings, integrate renewables, embed circularity, guarantee high health standards and support the move to digitisation.
