Financing continues to be one of the most significant challenges facing home energy renovation across Europe. Although many homeowners recognise the advantages of upgrading their properties, uncertainty about how to fund the necessary work often prevents them from moving forward.
To help advisors and One-Stop Shops address this issue, EU Peers has launched a new online training programme: Train the Trainer – Financing Home Renovation.
Available through the EU Peers platform, the training has been developed for professionals who support homeowners with renovation projects. No specialist knowledge of finance is needed. Instead, the course offers a straightforward and practical overview of the renovation financing landscape, enabling participants to feel more confident when discussing renovation costs, available funding opportunities and financing options.
Five short modules packed with practical knowledge
The training is divided into five concise modules, each designed to be completed in under 20 minutes. Participants will explore:
- Why home renovation should be viewed primarily as a financial decision
- The role different stakeholders play in renovation financing
- The way banks evaluate renovation projects
- How financing packages can combine funding from various sources
- Effective approaches for explaining costs, savings and repayment options
The final module concentrates on communication strategies, helping advisors explain financial concepts to homeowners through clear, practical and easy-to-understand examples.
Flexible online learning with local relevance
One of the training’s main strengths is its interactive online format, which gives EU Peers Community of Practice members the flexibility to learn at their own pace and revisit materials whenever required.
The programme also includes country-specific content, helping participants gain a better understanding of national financing schemes, market conditions and local funding opportunities.
Enhancing renovation support across Europe
By turning complex financial concepts into practical, accessible guidance, the training enhances the ability of One-Stop Shops and renovation advisors to support homeowners throughout the renovation process. In doing so, it helps transform financing from a perceived barrier into a manageable and understandable aspect of home renovation.
