Biography
Raúl García Brink has been the Councillor for Environment, Climate, Energy, and Knowledge of Cabildo de Gran Canaria (CIEGC) since 2023. He is also Vice-President of the Insular Energy Council and Co-director of the University Expert Program in Circular Economy for Isolated Territories at the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.
Raúl also has a background in education, having been the Head of Studies at Colegio Heidelberg, a Secondary and High School Philosophy Teacher, and a Philosophy Examiner for the International Baccalaureate Organisation.
As the Vice-President for Grid Capacity and Flexibility at FEDARENE, Raúl advocates for the strengthening and decentralisation of grid infrastructure in Europe to harness the full potential of clean energy sources in urban and rural areas alike. Coming from an island with limited grid access, Raúl has extensive first-hand experience with this topic and a deep understanding of its importance.
Specific areas that Raúl is focusing on in his term as FEDARENE Vice-President include grid storage and smart grids. He is also involved in shaping FEDARENE’s responses to EU public consultations regarding grid capacity and flexibility and supports the development of webinars, projects, and working groups on the topic.
