Meet the city of Grenovable, the winner of the European Commission’s European Green Capital Award 2022!

On the 8th of October 2020, Grenoble, Gabrovo and Lappeenranta won prestigious European green city awards aiming to recognise the environmental achievements of cities and towns for urban sustainability and eco-innovation.

The city of Grenoble (France) won the European Commission’s European Green Capital Award 2022 that rewards cities of more than 100 000 inhabitants for their sustainable urban living. The city impressed the jury, thanks to its pioneering approach to climate management. Grenoble achieved top results in climate change mitigation, sustainable urban mobility, sustainable land use, noise and energy performance. The city will receive a €350,000 financial incentive from the European Commission to kick-start its European Green Capital year.

Gabrovo (Bulgaria) and Lappeenranta (Finland) both won the European Green Leaf Award 2021, rewarding cities with 20 000 to 99 999 inhabitants for their environmental efforts and achievements. Both cities will receive €75 000 to implement their environmental projects.
