Celebrate Islands 2023

CELEBRATE ISLANDS is an annual event that promotes conservation and management of small islands globally, featuring a video contest to fund projects focused on ecological restoration, circular economy, and sustainable agriculture. Submissions for the contest are open until 3 May.

From the 10 May 2023 to the 17 May 2023

CELEBRATE ISLANDS is an annual event co-organised by the Conservatoire du littoral and the NGOs PIM and SMILO since 2014, aiming to put forward and financially support management and conservation actions carried by and for small islands on an international scale.

Their objectives

  • Promoting and sharing initiatives contributing towards the preservation of the ecological and cultural specificities of small islands around the world to celebrate island ecosystems and the actors who act for their preservation.
  • Initiate a process for the recognition of an islands international day

For the third consecutive year, they are organising their video contest entitled “My project in 120 seconds“. This call for small projects aims to finance seven projects on islands of less than 150km² through 4,000€ grants. This year’s contest will be focusing on three themes :

  • Ecological restoration (terrestrial and marine)
  • Circular economy and waste repurposing
  • Sustainable agriculture and aquaculture

Applicants have until 3 May to submit a video:
