Join us on 4 June 2026 for the Session 2 of the EU Covenant of Mayors’ Homegrown Energy Webinar Series, on Building Energy Communities with Citizens!
The EU Covenant of Mayors has launched its Homegrown Energy Engagement Action to help municipalities become active enablers of energy communities in their territories.
As part of this engagement action, four online webinars will be held between May and June 2026, each lasting approximately one hour. Organised in collaboration with partner projects and initiatives including the Citizen Energy Advisory Hub, the ISLET project and ManagEnergy, the series is designed to accompany local authorities through the full lifecycle of energy communities: understanding what they are and why they matter, how to engage citizens, how to address specific contexts such as islands, and how to set up and manage a community in practice.

- 18th of June 2026 – Session 3: Energy Communities in Islands
- 25th of June 2026 – Session 4: Setting up and management of energy communities
Session 2 – Building Energy Communities with Citizens
This second session will explore how local authorities can actively involve residents in the design and governance of energy communities, drawing on the tools and experience of the Citizen Energy Advisory Hub, including its citizen panels. Two concrete case studies will illustrate what meaningful participation looks like in practice.
