Adapt4EU builds on leading Mission initiatives to advance climate adaptation across Europe, connecting Local and Regional Authorities with the knowledge, tools and funding they need to move from adaptation to planning.
As a flagship initiative under the EU Mission on Adaptation to Climate Change, Adapt4EU bridges the gap between adaptation planning and implementation by empowering local and regional authorities to co-develop inclusive, actionable and investment-ready Climate Adaptation Action Plans. Building on the foundations laid by Pathways2Resilience, CLIMAAX, the Mission Secretariat and the Covenant of Mayors, the project advances both scientific knowledge and practical resilience action across Europe.
Adapt4EU will enable 70-100 local and regional authorities to move from planning to tangible implementation, allocating €17.5 million in cascade funding through two Open Calls. This funding is designed to ensure equity, geographic balance and targeted support to vulnerable regions, particularly those facing the greatest climate risks and resource constraints.
Adapt4EU is built around four interconnected components:
At the heart of the project, the Adapt4EU Accelerator acts as a single-entry point to tools, training and replication pathways. It ensures long-term sustainability, visibility and mainstreaming of adaptation solutions across Europe, while fostering synergies with Climate-ADAPT, MIP4Adapt, the Mission Hubs and other EU platforms.
