Adapt4EU / Adapt4EU Accelerator

Adapt4EU builds on leading Mission initiatives to advance climate adaptation across Europe, connecting Local and Regional Authorities with the knowledge, tools and funding they need to move from adaptation to planning.

The Adapt4EU Accelerator is a dynamic learning ecosystem that builds upon and expands the Communities of Practice developed under Climate-ADAPT and CLIMAAX. It provides a dedicated online space where local and regional authorities, researchers, policymakers and financiers can share knowledge, test tools and refine their Climate Adaptation Action Plans.

At its core, the Accelerator is a collaborative space. Through training, case studies and Communities of Practice, it enables these actors to learn from one another, scale best practices and ensure long-term replication. As a result, the methodologies, templates and training modules developed by Adapt4EU remain accessible to local and regional authorities well beyond the directly funded group — ensuring that the benefits of the project reach far more regions than those supported through cascade funding alone.

What the Accelerator offers

A single-entry point: The Accelerator hosts and integrates the full Adapt4EU ecosystem, giving users seamless access to the project’s tools, methods and services in one place integrating a complete toolkit for justice-oriented assessment, AI guidance, localised risk analysis, adaptation option retrieval, scenario testing, climate finance and equity-sensitive monitoring — supporting authorities across the full adaptation cycle.
Training and capacity-building: Structured training sessions, interactive clinics and peer-learning exchanges accompany the tools, helping authorities with limited technical capacity make confident use of them.
Case studies and Communities of Practice: The Accelerator federates existing Communities of Practice and showcases real adaptation stories from cities and regions across Europe, making it easier for authorities to benchmark their strategies and learn from peers.
A mapping of the European adaptation landscape: To help regions, provinces, municipalities and other stakeholders make sense of the wider ecosystem of adaptation policy and support, the Accelerator provides a structured mapping of relevant initiatives, platforms and services.
A helpdesk and advisory support: A dedicated helpdesk offers light-touch technical support, answers user queries and promotes replication, while project partners offer consulting, training and advisory services linked to the platform.
