With this special dossier, the “General Journal of Europe” aims to promote regions, energy and environmental agencies, community associations and their members as well as all decision-makers. It wishes to highlight innovations, exchanges of experience and project development. It is based on the observation that European institutions already have a privileged relationship with sub-state levels of governance by supporting and funding many local projects. Furthermore, local and regional authorities and their agencies can help further to achieve the 2030 and 2050 targets and to modernise and develop the European energy market.
The dossier is aimed at European institutions but also at the level of parliamentarians, local and regional authorities, major regional, national and European socio-economic actors. Realised in partnership with FEDARENE, visitors will be able to read interviews and contributions from many members of the network on the different dimensions of energy policy and initiatives in Europe. Interviews from our President Julije Domac and from Vice-President for Energy Efficiency Assumpta Farran are already available online. In his interview, Julije Domac had the opportunity to present FEDARENE and our current actions, notably our position of the next Multiannual Financial Framework. “Member States must accept that the energy transition is not just another expenditure, it’s not an adjustment variable for the budget of the European Union. On the contrary, it is an essential part of the solution that maximises the impact of our budgets and creates additional revenues”, he said.
Interviews of prominent EU political figures, such as Maroš Šefcovic, Energy Commissioner , and Corina Cretu, EU Commissioner for Regional Policy, are also accessible in the dossier. And more contributions are to come, so stay tuned!
