Cities driving the green recovery: boosting investments for local actions

The European City Facility organized a session during the EUSEW 2020 on how cities can be the key actors of the Green Recovery.

A webinar of all outstanding women working in the sustainable energy field, who guided 999 participants towards funding, possibilities and concrete actions that cities and local authorities can implement to fight climate change and build a sustainable future.

It’s time to act! The EU Green Deal comes at the right time!” This is how Tine Heyse introduced her speech. Tine is Deputy Mayor of the Environment, Climate, Housing and North-South in the city of Ghent, Belgium. Find out what Ghent is doing to fight Climate Change and why referring to Environment or Energy only is not enough anymore.

Louise White, Senior Engineer at the European Investment Bank, guided us through the ELENA Programme, and together with the session moderator Claire Roumet, from Energy Cities, explained how ELENA and EUCF can support municipalities in the development of their sustainable energy projects.

Not only examples and financing opportunities but also alignment with EU Climate Action and targets: Diana Barglazan, Policy Officer in the Energy Efficiency Unit of DG Energy (European Commission), gave us an inspirational speech to do better and more, also presenting what DG Energy is planning for supporting local authorities in the Energy Transition.
