FEDARENE warmly congratulates ENERGAP, the Energy and Climate Agency of Podravje, on its 20th anniversary.
For two decades, ENERGAP has supported municipalities, public institutions, businesses and citizens in addressing the challenges of the energy transition. What began as a regional initiative in Slovenia has grown into a recognised Energy and Climate Agency, helping connect European policies with local implementation and turning shared climate and energy objectives into practical action.
Celebrating 20 years in Maribor
To mark this important milestone, ENERGAP hosted a special anniversary event in Maribor under the slogan “20 Years of Good Energy in a Network of Good People”. The celebration brought together nearly one hundred representatives of municipalities, public authorities, Energy Agencies, development organisations, European partners and long-standing stakeholders who have contributed to the agency’s journey.
The programme reflected both on ENERGAP’s achievements and on the challenges ahead. It included speeches from local and international representatives, artistic performances, a light and laser show, and interactive moments highlighting the importance of cooperation and collective action in shaping a more sustainable future.
A network of partners and shared messages
A particularly meaningful part of the celebration was a series of video messages from long-standing international partners, who shared their congratulations and reflections on years of cooperation with ENERGAP.
Among them were representatives of FEDARENE, the OÖ Energiesparverband, the Energikontor Syd, AURA-EE and other European partner organisations. Their messages underlined the importance of regional and local Energy Agencies in accelerating the energy transition and recognised ENERGAP’s contribution to connecting local communities with European initiatives, knowledge and opportunities.
One symbolic moment of the evening was a collaborative mosaic activity. Upon arrival, each participant received a puzzle piece that was later assembled into a single image. The activity reflected a message that ran throughout the celebration: meaningful change is only possible when individual contributions come together around a common vision.
From local action to European cooperation
Over the last 20 years, ENERGAP has contributed to initiatives in energy efficiency, renewable energy, sustainable mobility, climate adaptation, energy communities and local energy planning. Through European cooperation projects and strategic partnerships, the agency has helped transfer knowledge, good practices and innovation from the European level to municipalities and local actors in the Podravje region and beyond.
Today, ENERGAP is recognised as an important regional and international partner, working with municipalities, businesses, research institutions, public organisations and European networks to support sustainable energy and climate action.
Looking ahead
As ENERGAP reflects on its journey, its message remains focused on people, partnerships and practical solutions:
“For us, 20 years is much more than an anniversary. It represents 20 years of developing solutions for a better quality of life, working alongside local communities, transferring European knowledge and best practices into our region, and creating tangible changes that can be seen in our cities and municipalities today. Most importantly, it represents 20 years of building partnerships, trust and a shared vision. We are proud of the path behind us, but even more inspired by the future ahead. We see this anniversary not as the end of one chapter, but as an encouragement to continue connecting people, sharing knowledge and co-creating sustainable solutions for future generations.”
