Citizen Finance: people investing in their cities’ sustainable future

How can citizens directly contribute to the local energy transition of their cities? Watch this C-Track 50 webinar to find out.

The 09 June 2020 from 10:00 to 11:30 Brussels time

A Covenant of Mayors – C-Track 50 Webinar

Citizens are increasingly aware of the urgency of protecting our Climate, pushing decision-makers for urgent action. While the new European Green Deal proposed by the European Commission is aimed at answering their call, European cities and regions have already taken action to curb carbon emissions, increase energy efficiency and renewable energy sources. Yet, European cities have been using EU, national, regional and local funds to finance their Covenant action plans, and have also been mobilising citizens finance to get support local projects. In the current context and the fight to Covid-19, additional funding and investments are needed. How can municipalities find the necessary resources to achieve their Energy Transition?

In this second C-Track 50 webinar, we will look at some innovative ways to finance sustainable energy and climate actions at local level related to citizen finance. Indeed, the 2019 climate mobilisations showed growing interest for climate issues coming from citizens, and this is an encouraging sign that they are ready to take ownership of the Energy Transition. Solutions like energy cooperatives and crowdfunding will be presented and discussed. Join us on the 9th of June and hear about Citizen Finance from both institutional actors and first-hand practitioners from the ground!
