On 27 September 2022, Reinhard Six was honoured as the winner of the 7th Roger Léron Award. A lifelong advocate for energy efficiency, Reinhard worked alongside Roger Léron at Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Énergie Environnement before bringing his expertise to the European Investment Bank. There, he launched ELENA, a programme providing essential technical assistance to support investments in energy efficiency and renewable energy. Explore the highlights of the 2022 ceremony!

For its 6th edition, the traditional call for nominations was replaced with a retrospective of the Prize’s past editions, highlighting all nominations from the previous five years.

On 26 November 2020, Gérard Dellinger was announced as the winner of the 2020 Roger Léron Award. Former mayor of Saint-Julien-en-Quint in France’s Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, Mr Dellinger also founded ACROPREV, a local association promoting clean energy and mobility. On 9 October 2019, Søren Hermansen was awarded the 2019 Roger Léron Award for his pivotal role in transforming Samsø into a self-sufficient island powered by renewable energy. The 4th edition of the Roger Léron Award concluded on 10 October 2018 with a ceremony at the Palais des Académies in Brussels, where Andy Bull was announced as the winner. An ‘early adopter’ of sustainable technologies, Andy recognised the potential of on-farm anaerobic digestion in Mid Wales. On 5 December 2017, Ljubomir Majdandžić was announced as the winner of the 2017 Roger Léron Award. A pioneer in promoting sustainable energy in Croatia, Mr Majdandžić championed the vision of a 100% renewable energy economy for the country, with the support of the Energy Protection and Efficiency Fund (EPEEF). For the second edition of the Roger Léron Award, the jury selected Wolfgang Jilek as the winner. After years as one of the Managers of the Styrian Energy Agency, Mr Jilek became Energy Commissioner of Styria, where he updated the Styrian Energy Strategy to focus on efficiency, renewable energy sources, district heating, and cogeneration. The first edition of the Roger Léron Award in 2015 also marked the 25th anniversary of FEDARENE. On the evening of 16th June, the trophy was presented to Herbert Stava. Starting in 1985 as the city councillor for the environment in his Austrian hometown, Mr Stava has been a steadfast advocate for energy efficiency, renewable energy, and sustainability. He founded Energiepark Bruck/Leitha, an innovation and development centre dedicated to transitioning his hometown to a 100% renewable energy city, with the long-term goal of achieving energy independence for the entire region.
