In the context of the Austrian EU Presidency, a meeting of the EU Energy Council was held in Linz/Austria on 17-18 September 2018. The OÖ Energiesparverband (ESV), the Energy Agency of Upper Austria, had the unique opportunity to participate in the Council Meeting, normally closed to external organisations. The ESV organised an exhibition showcasing Upper Austrian sustainable energy solutions for industry. The energy technology innovations presented to the delegates (Energy Ministers, Secretaries of State, Director Generals for Energy) included biomass CHP, large-scale heat pumps, hydropower solutions, PV, energy storage, industrial solar thermal systems, energy contracting for industry, flue gas cleaning systems and smart industrial buildings. The ESV also organised site-visits for international journalists. At the Council Meeting, details of the (nearly finalised) Clean Energy Package were discussed with a lively debate on the electricity market design.
