FEDARENE reacts to REPowerEU with Members of the European Parliament

As members of EUFORES, FEDARENE was invited on the 19th of May along with other representatives of industry associations, NGOs and companies from the field of renewables and energy efficiency – to discuss the latest REPowerEU developments and elaborate on the next steps to take in European legislation and national implementation. FEDARENE took the floor proposing an “energy transition first” principle according to which national Governments should focus priority on energy solutions based on RES and energy efficiency which are immediately available and can be deployed in cooperation with EU regions, cities, energy agencies, citizens and EU industries, and do not require international negotiations, trade-offs nor waiting 3-4 years to exploit new gas pockets or infrastructure. FEDARENE also highlighted the need to upscale and replicate existing renovation one-stops managed by regional energy agencies and reminded the multiple ready-to-upscale and ready-to-replicate projects the members of FEDARENE have already implemented, but which would need increased technical assistance funding. Follow-up provision of input and discussions will take place.
