Biography

Benedetta Brighenti is the President of the Modena Energy and Sustainable Development Agency (AESS), a role she has held since 2017. In 2021, Benedetta was appointed General Director of the National Network of Local Energy Agency (RENAEL). She is also a European Climate Pact Ambassador in Italy. 

Benetta was previously the Deputy Mayor of Castelnuovo Rangone, Modena, President of Young ANCI Emilia-Romagna, and an alternate member of the Committee of Regions (CoR). She graduated from Bologna University with a degree in building engineering and architecture. In addition, she has experience being a manager at a sustainable development and energy company. 

As the Vice-President of Climate Neutral Cities and Regions at FEDARENE, Benedetta recognises the important role that cities and regions play in the climate transition and works to turn challenges into opportunities through mitigation and adaptation pathways, digitalisation, collaboration, and more. 

Key action items for Benedetta include bringing One-Stop Shops to more areas across Europe, developing scientific and operational insights into climate change adaptation, and providing useful tools for local actors to address the environmental crisis.
