“Climate leaders drive the transition to a sustainable society”

Isabella Katsimenis, Project Manager from North Sweden Energy Agency, shares her perspective on why the climate leadership in Sweden is needed and how REMARKABLE Climate Leaders contribute to this.

“Climate leaders drive the transition to a sustainable society”

REMARKABLE Climate Leaders is a project that investigates who climate leaders are. How would you define attributes of a climate leader?

A climate leader for me is someone who is in lead adapting new ways before others, not following others but making the path for others to follow. A person who is building teams that are driving the transition to a sustainable society, and is not being afraid of failure but sees mistakes as great places for growth and development.

North Sweden Energy Agency currently covers 14 municipalities of Norrbotten. Why does your region need climate leaders?

There are a lot of good solutions out on the market in different countries. We need strong climate leaders who can drive and implement these solutions at a higher speed.

We need to support our leaders more and put them into a context where they can grow in their roles.

What does North Sweden Energy Agency do to help them become more active?

Climate leaders in our region are a bit invisible and often a bit quiet, often recognized as someone loving and hugging trees in the forest and someone who is against development and growth.

North Sweden Energy Agency (Energikontor Norr) is building collaborations and networks to support climate leaders. We also provide an increased knowledge of different projects.
