The LIFE European City Facility (LIFE EUCF) is set up under the LIFE Programme of the European Commission and builds on the success of the previous European City Facility, financed by the H2020 Programme, which supported more than 200 local authorities in Europe.
LIFE EUCF will continue supporting municipalities and local authorities in Europe with tailor-made, rapid and simplified financial support (60.000Eur), as well as with technical support and guidance in finalising attractive and robust proposal for investments to access further financing for sustainable energy projects.
For each EU Member State, Iceland and Ukraine, the consortium will appoint:
- a Country Expert, whose role will be to support municipalities in their ‘LIFE EUCF journey’ and to support the Core Management Team for a smooth LIFE EUCF operation and monitoring. We will select Country Experts based on their proven technical and financial competences and working experience in the field of energy and climate investments at local / regional level, their existing relations and contacts with municipalities, and best value for money.
- a National Hub, whose role will be to involve municipalities in the Facility and support the deal-closing of their investment concepts. We will select National Hubs based on their proven wide outreach to municipalities and local authorities, their working experience in supporting local authorities, particularly on energy and climate investments, and best value for money.
We are currently looking for:
Country Experts in the following countries:
- Iceland,
- Luxembourg.
National Hubs in the following countries:
- Netherlands.
- Belgium.
- Ukraine.
Selected organisations / persons will be reimbursed for their expertise, on the basis of the financial offer submitted.
They will also benefit of the high visibility that the LIFE European City Facility provides, not only in Europe, but also at national level, acting as LIFE EUCF representatives in their country.

Conference of Mayors: Translating the EU Green Deal into local actions
The high level event, titled Conference of Mayors: Translating the EU Green Deal into local actions, was organised by the Flemish Government within the framework of the Belgian Presidency of the EU Council. The event took place in Brussels on the 15th of March 2024, split between morning sessions hosted by the European Parliament, and 3 afternoon parallel sessions hosted by the Committee of the Regions.
