FEDARENE is getting ready to blow out its 25 candles on 16th June from 6 PM at the magnificent “Palais des Académies” in Brussels.

There will be a members’ poster exhibition, speeches by members of the Award Jury and EU representatives, followed by the awarding of the trophy to the winner. The evening will end with a celebratory cocktail and walking dinner.

Within the FEDARENE network, regional level energy and environment agencies, ministries and departments have, for twenty-five years, already been acting on the ground daily to put into practice European energy and climate policy goals. This event will be the occasion to gather our members and all energy and climate stakeholders to celebrate the contributions of regional and local players in particular in reducing Europe’s dependence on foreign energy, in ensuring Europe’s security of energy supply, and in preventing further impact on our climate. Indeed, regional and local levels of governance play a central role, through their responsibility for many policy areas (energy, transport, housing etc.), their proximity to citizens, their thorough knowledge of the territory, and their greater flexibility than national governments.

That evening will also see the awarding, to an individual or an organisation, of the trophy of our newly launched FEDARENE Roger Léron Award. This award, named in memory of our former president, will yearly acknowledge outstanding and persistent regional and local contributions to sustainable energy in Europe.
