An Island Pact for sustainable European islands: the view of the European Parliament

Organised by the Clean Energy for EU Islands secretariat, this webinar will explore the challenges faced by Europe’s outermost regions and islands as they face the most dramatic consequences of global warming.

The 01 December 2022 from 12:30 to 13:30 Brussels time

Islands and outermost regions are on the front line of climate change as they face some of the most dramatic consequences of global warming.

In this webinar, meet MEP Younouy Omarjee who worked as rapporteur on the report on EU islands and cohesion policy.

About the Clean Energy for EU Islands secretariat

An initiative of the European Commission, the secretariat is the central platform for the clean energy transition of the more than 2,200 inhabited European islands. Despite having access to renewable sources of energy, such as wind and wave energy, many of them depend on expensive fossil fuel imports for their energy supply.

The Islands secretariat’s website acts as a centre to showcase the most important island best-practices. It informs about policy and regulatory issues for Europe’s island communities and provides dedicated advice for capacity building and clean energy transitioning.
